“Although I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the boundless riches of Christ, and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.”

Ephesians 3:8-9

First thing first: it’s like waffle but with a V. You can call me Jason, Wavle, or Wav. I’m glad you stopped by. Here are a few things to know about me.

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. I was a band kid, a JV soccer second-string goalie, and an early adopter of YouTube. My mom’s second cousin is “the only magician in history to win a live magic competition on primetime US network television.”

Most importantly, I am a follower of Jesus. I came to know Him at a weekend retreat when I was 12 years old. I found a place to belong in the life of an old Presbyterian church. Throughout my high school years, my life was marked by sin, shame, and shifting identities. I didn’t know how to walk with the Lord. Still, He was faithful where I was not.

In my early 20s, I got tired of playing games. For all the facts I knew about Jesus, I was tired and empty. Because of His continual pursuit of me, I began to pursue Him. I found Him to be good, beautiful, and true. When I began to walk with Him and sit at His feet, I began to truly experience life. I found freedom and hope. I woke up to my true identity.

I moved to Dallas, TX in 2021 after three long years of wrestling with God over where He was leading me. Two pairs of cowboy boots and a ton of BBQ later, Texas feels like home. Over that time, the Lord has stripped away, refined, and provided. I am continually in awe of His kindness.

My life is the result of a faithful God. He has been near to me even in my darkest night. I belong to Him. Now, more than ever, I am burdened for others to experience abundant life with Jesus.

I’ve been in vocational ministry for 15 years. What began as a convenient high school job became something the Lord would use to deepen my affection for Him and His people. My journey started with — and is marked by — a decade in the trenches of student ministry in the south hills of Pittsburgh. I grew deep roots in my local church and connected widely with camps and other ministries. I learned to prioritize relationships, fail forward, and celebrate the small things.

I think of my work as curating attention; guiding fleeting thoughts, emotions, and feelings back toward what is ultimately true of God and us. Drawing our attention to what the Lord is doing in small, quiet, and seemingly insignificant moments is essential in the long, slow journey toward Christlikeness. I love Jesus, and I want others to experience abundant life in Him.

I’m inches from receiving a Master of Theology with a concentration in Leadership Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. I have a BA in Biblical and Theological Studies from Boyce College (Southern Seminary). I am an active member of The Village Church in Flower Mound, Texas. I enjoy reading and thinking in the areas of spiritual formation and personal/organizational leadership. When I find the time, I like to record song covers.

Really, I’m glad you stopped by. Reach out if there are any ways I can serve you.

I would love to partner with you in ministry.
